Project Description:
AENA required a comprehensive strategic framework to strengthen and optimize the development of air cargo throughout its airport network.
In a context of changes in global supply chains, growth of e-commerce and increased competition between European hubs, the objective was to improve the competitiveness, efficiency and positioning of the air cargo business.

GPA methodology applied:
GPA developed an Air Cargo Development Strategy for the entire AENA network, combining market intelligence and strategic planning.
The project was structured in six lines of work, including the analysis of market trends, the evaluation of infrastructure and operations at the main cargo airports (Madrid, Zaragoza, Barcelona and Vitoria) and benchmarking with leading European airports.
Strategic actions were defined to optimize operations, capacity and commercial positioning, a plan to promote air cargo at national and airport level, and the potential for cargo development at medium-sized airports.

The Strategic Plan provided AENA with a coherent, data-driven roadmap to strengthen air cargo development in Spain, prioritize investments, improve the competitiveness of key airports and generate new growth opportunities across the network.
